Update: 4th Central Bucks East Student Tests Positive For COVID

DOYLESTOWN, PA — A fourth student at Central Bucks School District has tested positive for coronavirus, the district announced Friday.

District officials were informed Friday morning that a Central Bucks High School East student tested positive for COVID-19. The student followed the guidelines in the district's health and safety plan, reported the information to the school district and is isolating for the appropriate number of days, Superintendent John J. Kopicki said.

"The district will notify all those students and staff members who came into close personal contact with this individual," Superintendent Kopicki said, and the Bucks County Department of Health will oversee a contact tracing process.

Last week, the district reported that a second student athlete tested positive for the virus. The first case was reported on Sept. 5.

Symptoms of COVID-19 may include, but are not limited to, fever or chills, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, or new loss of taste or smell. Students who show any of the symptoms above should stay home and contact health care professionals for further guidance.

More than 160,000 Pennsylvanians have tested positive for the virus. Since the onset of the pandemic, there have been 8,160 deaths in the state.
