5 Bucks Startups Get $25K Investments From County Fund
They are the latest cohort of the Bucks Built Startup Fund, which invests in small, innovate companies with ties to the county.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Five Bucks County startups are set to receive $25,000 investments and a year of advising as they look to grow their operations in the area.
The five companies — CareAlign, EmpathED, Fitted, Pippy Sips and TheraV — are the latest cohort of the Bucks Built Startup Fund, which invests in small, innovate companies with ties to the county.
Businesses that receive investments from the fund must operate or plan to operate in Bucks County, commit to hiring in Bucks County, or have an owner who lives or plans to live in the county.

CareAlign is a task management system that streamlines workflows for clinicians and health care providers. The company launched in 2018 as TrekIT Health but rebranded in December. It was founded by CEO Dr. Subha Airan-Javia and originally developed at the University of Pennsylvania Health System.

EmpathED, based in New Hope, helps schools support students with learning disabilities and health impairments by training educators with “immersive interactive experiences and visual media,” according to its website.
Fitted offers laundry and dry cleaning delivery services in more than a dozen cities across the U.S., including Philadelphia. Pippy Sips aims to create the first award-winning system to store, cool and monitor breastmilk.

TheraV is working to create drug-free solutions to improve the quality of life of amputees. The company is offering a noninvasive, wearable vibration therapy sleeve that is meant to help people “outsmart” their phantom limbs. The product is currently available for pre-order.
Applications for the most recent cohort opened in June, with 10 finalists named in mid-July from a group of 120 applicants. The five businesses were selected in mid-August to receive investments.

The screening panel for the Fall 2021 applications included Glen Gaddy, a managing member of Robin Hood Ventures; Rick Genzer, investment director of Ben Franklin Technology Partners; TJ Lonergan, interim executive director of the Bucks County Industrial Development Authority; Nick Pahade, an angel investor; Heather Qader, founder of The Qader Group; Sushma Rajagopalan, a venture partner and board member at Rittenhouse Ventures; and Tammy Williams, president and CEO of Envision2bWell Inc.
Five startups received $25,000 investments earlier this year in the Bucks Built fund’s inaugural cohort: Employee Cycle, Naturaz, Neuralert Technologies, Puppy BootCamp and Tozuda.
