According to an affidavit of probable cause, video shows McLaughlin inside the school building between 2 and 8:30 a.m. collecting items and placing them in what police are calling a "wheeled craft." The items were then stashed inside one of the unlocked offices, investigators said.
Police noted that when McLaughlin entered the building, he was wearing a black t-shirt and shorts. When he left, he was wearing a different t-shirt with the words "Run This Town" on the back, according to the affidavit. The shirt, shorts, and coffee mug he was holding in the video images all came from the school, investigators said.
An inventory by the school following the incident showed that five shirts were missing, the affidavit says.
The school's security personnel told police McLaughlin also entered the infirmary and rearranged some of the supplies. The school was not able to immediately confirm if anything had been taken, investigators said.
Video shows him leaving the school with a backpack, which he did not have when he entered the building.
McLaughlin previously worked as a performance clerk for a plumbing and HVAC company, a senior director of operations for a company that provides students with immersive learning adventures, and as a former campus president for a post-secondary network of colleges and institutions based in New Jersey, his online bio says.
McLaughlin is currently incarcerated in the Bucks County Correctional Center in lieu of $100,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 18 before Judge Mark Douple.
McLaughlin's legal representation was unknown as of Monday.
