Pickle-Flavored Water Ice, Glowing Grass: April Fool's Day In Bucks
Bucks County social media produced a lot of April Fool's Day jokes this year. These are among our favorites. Were you fooled?

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Glowing grass? Pickle-flavored water ice?? So how many April Fool's jokes did you fall for this year?
Here are some of our favorites gleaned from social media right here in Bucks County.
Glow-In-The-Dark Grass
- Award-winning Bucks County landscaper Carter Van Dyke had everyone excited about "Glow-In-The-Dark Grass," a brand-new product supposedly developed by a New Hope client. "This genetically enhanced grass absorbs sunlight during the day and glows all night, eliminating the need for outdoor lights," wrote Carter in a Facebook posting. "Perfect for moonlit picnics, late-night garden strolls, and impressing your neighbors. Contact us for details today ... but only for those who believe everything they read on April 1st!"

Pickle or Nacho Cheese?
- Meanwhile, the folks at the Newtown Ice House had everyone making all sorts of faces with their one-day-only April Fool's Day water ice flavors - Pickle and Nacho Cheese. Winning flavors? Probably not, even on the hottest of days. But thanks for the smile on April Fool's Day. Now stop on over and pick up your favorite - and enjoy!

Theatre Learns 'You Can't Fight City Hall'
- Meanwhile, our friend at the historic Newtown Theatre, executive director Andy Smith, known for his April Fool's jokes, continued his streak this year with a photo of himself wielding a large hammer and the following explanation: “Prior to our phase II renovations last summer, we thought we dotted every 'I' and crossed every 'T.' Apparently we were wrong. The Pennsylvania Historical Review Board has informed us that we illegally altered the theatre’s historic restrooms and must restore the restrooms to their original size and condition. This is obviously extremely disappointing since the new restrooms have been such a hit. But as the saying goes, 'You can’t fight city hall.' Demolition of the new restrooms will begin shortly, and restoration of the old restrooms and fixtures will commence soon after." A handful of theater followers admitted to falling for the April Fool's prank. “You guys are too much! Had me fooled there for a moment. Can you freaking imagine?????” wrote one follower. “Got all mad for nothing! Good one,” wrote another. “Very good! You had me fooled for a few seconds (ok, a few minutes)!” another wrote.

Battery-Powered Fire Engines
- And finally our friends at the Midway Volunteer Fire Company in Buckingham surprised its Facebook followers by announcing a vote to purchase two new EVA battery-powered fire engines to replace its aging diesel fire engines. “Immediately following the vote, Chief 5 commented about how ‘It just makes sense … eighty percent of all calls are alarm calls and get canceled before the diesel engines even get warmed up,' the fire company wrote. "In addition, for years members have complained about the sensitivity they experience breathing in diesel exhaust and extreme difficulty hearing what’s being said on the radio when standing near the louder apparatus. One huge advantage of ordering battery-powered fire trucks is that delivery time is reduced to a mere couple of months versus 2-3 years for a traditional engine.” One firefighter wrote, and we concur, "Sensitivity to diesel exhaust sealed the April Fool's deal with me. Definitely a good one."
