PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — A black bear has been sighted in Plumstead Township behind a house on Old Durham Road.
Police said the bear sighting was reported by a resident at 12:23 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. According to police, the bear enjoyed a meal of grass seed that had just been spread before continuing on its way.
Police said the Pennsylvania Game Commission has been notified.

"This encounter serves as a crucial reminder to residents to take necessary precautions to prevent attracting wildlife to their properties," said police. "Bears can be drawn to various food sources, including cat food, dog food, deer food, bird food, and trash cans, trash bags, and dumpsters.
"To prevent bears from wandering through your property, it is essential to eliminate these food sources," police said. "By taking these simple steps, you can help maintain a safe and secure environment for both humans and wildlife."

There have been numerous bear sightings in Bucks County this spring, including one bear that made his way from north of Peace Valley Park to Langhorne, stopping in Doylestown Borough and Newtown along the way.
