Bucks Co. Commissioners Appoint New County Solicitor

In a bipartisan vote at its December meeting, the board's two Democrats and one Republican voted unanimously in favor of the appointment.

DOYLESTOWN, PA - The Bucks County Board of Commissioners has named Dan Grieser the county’s new solicitor, replacing Amy Fitzpatrick, who was elected to the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas in November.

In a bipartisan vote at its December meeting, the board’s two Democrats and one Republican voted unanimously in favor of the appointment.

Grieser joined the county's law department in 2021, rising up through the ranks as assistant county solicitor and then deputy county solicitor before earning the office’s top spot.

From his new perch, Grieser will oversee all lawsuits brought by and filed against the county, its subdivisions and 2,000+ employees. He will also provide advice and counsel to the Board of Commissioners and departments in their administration, as well as the county’s salary and retirement board.

A retired Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, Grieser brings more than 25 years of experience representing government agencies at all levels.

After retiring from the Army, Grieser served as a municipal solicitor to various Pennsylvania municipal entities, including the Centennial School District, Newtown Township and Middletown Township.

Grieser is a graduate of Audobon High School, Moorhead State University, the University of North Dakota Law School, and the US Army Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School where he earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Military Law.
