Galloway said investing in these schools is an asset to the community.

"Bucks County comes out the winner here as a well-trained workforce will make Bucks County attractive to companies as a place to locate," he said.

Grants in the program max out at $50,000 and must be matched dollar-for-dollar by a local source, such as a local business or industry partner.

“The integration of technology and equipment in the classroom provides students with hands-on training for their trades and future careers,” said Davis. “These grants will allow for the purchase of equipment to provide for our students’ educational needs to pursue the career path that is right for them.”

The grants are among those awarded to 39 Career and Technical Centers and three school districts in Pennsylvania.

“Our career and technical school programs prepare students for a variety of careers, with hands-on learning and experience,” said Santarsiero. “These state funds will help ensure that our students receive targeted training with equipment that meets the specific needs of local businesses and industries, and will make them more competitive candidates upon graduation.”
