Bucks County Coroner Identifies Pilot Killed In Plane Crash
The Bucks County Coroner's Office has identified the pilot who was killed when his plane crashed in Buckingham Township on Tuesday morning.
DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Bucks County Coroner's Office has identified the pilot who was killed when his plane crashed in Buckingham Township on Tuesday Morning.
Martin Sailer, 79, of Upper Black Eddy, was flying a red-and-white plane, identified as a single-engine Vans RV-6, that went down around 10:34 a.m. in a wooded area near several homes on Cold Spring Creamery Road and Charter Club Drive, police said.
The crash happened less than two miles from the Doylestown Airport at 3879 Old Easton Road. The airport is home to smaller planes.

An air traffic controller reportedly told first responders that Sailer declared an SOS shortly before the crash, according to Emergency Alerts of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Sailer was pronounced dead at the scene. His cause of death is being investigated by the coroner's office, while the crash is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.

Firefighters from Midway, Doylestown and Plumsteadville assisted at the scene. No homes or structures were damaged in the crash.
