Disposing unused household medications helps prevent drug abuse and potential overdoses, according to Debbie Moskovitz with the Council Rock Coalition for Healthy Youth.
"Getting all of your medications out of the house helps to reduce substance abuse in our communities," Moskovitz said.
Since the program was launched in 2010, Bucks County has collected more than 146,000 pounds of unused medications, more than any other Pennsylvania county, according to Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub.
"This is a perfect example of what happens when a community comes together to keep us all safe," Weintraub said.
