Bucks County Student-Built House For Sale, Starting Bid Is $140K

JAMISON, PA — A two-story house built by students from the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology just hit the market.

The ready-to-move-and-assemble modular house features four bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, a kitchen, dining room, living room, family room and laundry room. Features include sliding glass doors, tilt windows and under cabinet lighting.

The project was built by MBIT students in a residential construction carpentry class who worked collaboratively with students in the Computerized Drafting & Engineering Graphics, HVAC/Plumbing Technology and Electrical Technology programs.

The 2,688 square foot house is constructed as four module sections, including structure and utilities, that are detachable for transport. It was constructed and inspected in accordance with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Manufactured Housing Division regulations.

Bids for the house will open on Tuesday, March 2, at 4 p.m. during a live Zoom meeting. The home will be awarded to the highest bidder. The minimum bid starts at $140,000 which covers the cost of the house and funds the next project, according to MBIT Business Manager Robert Vining.
