Bucks Native, Teacher Impregnated By 13-Year-Old Student: NJ Officials

MIDDLE TWP., NJ — A Bucks County native and current South Jersey elementary school teacher is accused of sexually assaulting her student over several years and giving birth to his child, according to authorities.

Laura Caron, 34, teaches fifth grade in Middle Township, NJ. The Warrington native and Cabrini University alum was charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Chief Michael Emmer in conjunction with Middle Township Police Chief Tracey Super said Wednesday.

She gave birth to the then 13-year-old's child in 2019 when she was 28, according to the arrest affidavit obtained by Patch.

Caron was the boy's and his brother's fifth grade teacher, authorities said. His mother became close with Caron and began to let them spend the night at her house when Caron offered to watch the children - starting at one or two times a week, which turned into the boys and their sister living permanently at Caron's home from 2016 to 2020, according to the documents. This is the time period that prosecutors allege Caron was assaulting the child.

His sister told authorities that the children would sleep in a shared room on the second floor, but she would wake up and find her brother in Caron's bed.

She also said that when her brother would shower, Caron would enter the bathroom and lock the door, according to court documents.

The victim's brother told authorities that one night while watching a movie together, he saw Caron and his brother engaging in a sexual act while they believed him to be asleep. He said he thought his brother was 11 at that time, according to the affidavit.

After Caron's baby was born, the victim permanently slept in her room and kept his clothes in her drawer, documents said.

This all came to light in Dec. 2024, when the boy's father posted on social media that Caron's son looked very similar to himself and his son.

That post was submitted to officials at the Middle Township School District as an anonymous tip saying that a teacher may have had a sexual relationship with a student. Authorities immediately began investigating.

The victim told multiple people, including authorities, that he was the father of Caron's child. He had texted his sister at one point admitting to being the child's father, but asked her to keep it a secret so Caron wouldn't get in trouble, according to documents.

He said he kept in contact with Caron until his father made the social media post.

Caron is currently jailed at the Cape May County Correctional Facility.
