Central Bucks East Principals To Participate In 'Polar Pop'
While there won't be a Polar Plunge this year, the Special Olympics of PA is still asking its supporters to get cold for a good cause.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — There won't be a Polar Plunge this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, but that hasn't stopped the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania from finding creative ways to raise money for its programs.
In place of the annual swim in icy cold waters, SOPA has announced a remote challenge in 2021 dubbed the Pa Polar Pop in which participants film themselves popping a balloon of icy cold water over their head. Funds raised through the program, which will take place throughout the month of February, will benefit more than 230 schools throughout the state to launch fully-inclusive Special Olympics Unified Sports and youth leadership programs.
In support of the Central Bucks High School East Unified Sports program, Principal Chad Watters and assistant principals Jon Boyle, Dr. Luke Hadfield and Tracy DeRosier have agreed to be the first participants. The first "Polar Pop" will take place on Friday, Jan. 29, in front of Central Bucks East at 2804 Holicong Road in Doylestown.

SOPA typically holds eight Polar Plunges around the state, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the plunges have shifted to an all-virtual event for the 2021 season.
All three Central Bucks School District high schools offer Unified Sports and leadership programs. CB East is considered a “Champion School,” offering both an inclusive Unified Sports Club and a Unified Bocce team during the winter sports season.
