Central Bucks Regional's K9 Granite Graduates From Narcotics Training

The training completes K9 Granite's initial training (Sept. 2024 to May 2025) allowing K9 Team 3 to be fully deployed.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — K9 Granite and his handler, Officer Kyle Maloney, completed narcotics training at the Penn Vet Working Dog Training Center in Philadelphia on May 9.

The narcotics training completes K9 Granite's initial training (Sept. 2024 to May 2025) allowing K9 Team 3 to be fully deployed in the community.

K9 Granite was sworn earlier this year as the newest K9 Officer of the Central Bucks Regional Police Department. Granite is a dual-purpose police service dog specializing in narcotics detection and patrol and protection, which includes tracking skills, building and article searches, evidence recovery and criminal apprehension.

“The addition of a third K9 team will increase the capability and coverage of our existing K9 Unit and contribute to its ongoing success,” said Chief Karl E. Knott.

The Thompson Organization provided the funds to purchase the department's three K9 police service dogs.

The Central Bucks Regional Police Department provides law enforcement coverage to Doylestown Borough, Chalfont Borough, and New Britain Borough.
