'Code Blue' Issued Again In Bucks Co. Ahead Of Extreme Cold Front
Overnight shelters will open in Upper, Central, and Lower Bucks this weekend as freezing weather is expected once again.
BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Bucks County issued a Code Blue declaration Friday, which will be in effect through Monday in response to extreme cold conditions.
The county issues a "Code Blue" declaration when temperatures are forecast to drop below 20 degrees for two or more consecutive days. A "Code Blue" may be called amid higher temperatures, as consideration is also given to wind chill, precipitation and other circumstances.
Shelters in Upper, Central and Lower Bucks are set to open at 8:30 p.m. each day through midweek.

There was a declaration in effect last week as well, due to temperatures that were some of the lowest the region has seen in the past three years.

- Upper Bucks — Quakertown Masonic Lodge, 501 W. Broad St, Quakertown, PA 18951
- Central Bucks — Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 5194 Cold Spring Creamery Rd, Doylestown, PA 18902
- Lower Bucks — Woodside Church, 1667 Edgewood Rd, Yardley, PA 19067

The Code Blue Shelters are independently operated by non-profit organizations, and open when the temperature is 26 degrees or below in addition to other criteria, dependent on having enough volunteers. Get more information about the shelters here.
