College Issues Statement On Former Interim VP Accused In CB West Burglary

The college said he was hired through normal procedures, which included standard background checks and professional references.

NEWTOWN, PA — The Bucks County Community College on Tuesday issued a statement regarding former employee Albert McLaughlin, who is accused of unlawfully entering Central Bucks West High School in Doylestown on Aug. 3.

The Central Bucks Regional Police Department charged the Doylestown man with felony burglary and related misdemeanors, including defiant trespass, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen merchandise.

In its statement, the college writes, "As reported by the Central Bucks Regional Police Department, Albert McLaughlin is facing a felony charge of burglary and related misdemeanors related to unlawfully entering Central Bucks West High School in Doylestown on August 3, 2025."

The statement continues, "McLaughlin was employed from July 14 to August 7, 2025, as interim vice president for enrollment management at Bucks County Community College. He was hired through normal procedures, which included standard background checks and professional references. He was neither a faculty member nor a dean and is no longer employed by the college effective August 7, 2025."

According to an affidavit of probable cause, during the early morning hours of Aug. 3, McLaughlin squeezed through a construction fence and entered the school. Once inside, video shows him allegedly stealing food, clothing and other miscellaneous items. He also took a shower and rummaged through an infirmary, security personnel said.

McLaughlin previously worked as a performance clerk for a plumbing and HVAC company, a senior director of operations for a company that provides students with immersive learning adventures, and as a former campus president for a post-secondary network of colleges and institutions based in New Jersey, his online LinkedIn bio says.

McLaughlin is currently incarcerated in the Bucks County Correctional Center in lieu of $100,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 18 before Judge Mark Douple.
