Company Plans $20K Effort To Support Doylestown Businesses

Alert Medical Alarms says it will buy $20K in gift cards to support Doylestown-area businesses hurting during the pandemic.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — It's no secret the coronavirus pandemic has devastated many small businesses in Doylestown.

But one local company who was not directly impacted by the virus has decided to step up and help support others who saw a sudden and devastating drop-off in business.

Alert Medical Alarms, a family-owned businesses, is led by CEO Noah Gifford. Since the business was deemed essential under the governor's shutdown orders, Gifford was able to operate fully throughout the closures.

But he knows many others were not so fortunate, and he wanted to find a way to help. After feedback from some local business owners, he decided the best way to support them would be through buying gift cards — and lots of them.

So far, Alert Medical Alarms has purchased $10,000 worth of gift cards from about 20 different Doylestown-area businesses, including The Salt Cave, The Mesquite Grill, Heirloom, Busy Bee Toys, The Paper Unicorn, and more.

"During COVID, I kept hearing about businesses in Doylestown that could not operate and were potentially closing for good. I felt I had to do something to support them," Gifford said.

The company says it is looking to spend up to $20,000 total on gift cards at local businesses.

Gifford is actively seeking more businesses for his company to support.

The concept is simple: Alert Medical Alarms purchases $500 worth of gift cards from a local businesses. Those gift cards will be then be divided up and given away to people in the Doylestown community who could use the extra boost.
