The piece, published Tuesday, explores Cosmo DiNardo's spiraling descent into mental illness and the family's efforts to get him treatment for bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, and schizophrenia.

The family has filed a medical malpractice case against Cosmo DiNardo's psychiatrist and the University of Pennsylvania Health System, the report said.

Cosmo DiNardo, the man serving consecutive life sentences in state prison for four grisly murders, is described by his family in the Philadelphia Magazine article as a "model son" before the onset of his mental illness. You can read the full report by Philly Mag here.

DiNardo pleaded guilty to the July 2017 shooting deaths of Dean Finocchiaro, 19, of Middletown Township, Tom Meo, 21, of Plumstead Township, Mark Sturgis, 22, of Pennsburg, and Jimi Patrick, 19, of Newtown.

All four men were shot and killed at DiNardo's family's farm in Solebury Township. DiNardo confessed the murders, admitting he killed three of the men and put their bodies in a "pig roaster." He buried the body of his first victim, Jimi Patrick.

After days of searching, local, state, and federal authorities located the bodies on the DiNardo's 90-acre farm off Rt. 202 in Solebury.
