DOYLESTOWN, PA —A Doylestown filmmaker's latest project recounts the Philadelphia Orchestra's breakthrough 1973 tour of China.

The documentary, 'Beethoven in Beijing,' was directed by Jennifer Lin, a former China correspondent for The Philadelphia Inquirer. The film will be streamed in a special free screening on Wed., Dec 16, from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. to mark the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birthday.

The film follows the Philadelphia Orchestra's 1973 trip to China, when they became the first American orchestra to visit the People's Republic. It features the stories of conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin, pianist Lang Lang and Oscar-winning composer Tan Dun.

Lin's documentary was an honorable mention for best local film at the Philadelphia Film Festival and named best historical documentary at the San Antonio Film Festival. PBS will broadcast the film in the spring as part of its Great Performances program.
