Doylestown Hospital Assessing Extensive Damage Due To Storm
The incident happened around 11:15 a.m., when high winds caused extensive damage throughout the hospital campus as well as to six cars.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Doylestown Hospital, in a series of tweets, has released details on the weather incident that caused serious damage to the building Tuesday, including specifically to the onsite Children's Village.
According to hospital officials, the incident happened around 11:15 a.m., when high winds caused extensive damage throughout the hospital campus as well as to six cars. The National Weather Service has not yet confirmed if the weather event was a tornado, but the winds were strong enough to blow off a portion of the roof of the Children’s Village.
However, due to "heroic efforts," no serious injuries were reported.

Hospital employees and local first responders were able to safely move all children and teachers out of harm's way. The children were later transported to Lenape Middle School to be reunited with their families.

Four children were treated for minor injuries and released.
Other parts of the hospital that experienced serious damage included the infusion center and lobby of the Cancer Institute. Additionally, the roof and windows of the pavilion were also damaged.
"We are currently assessing damage and clean-up operations are underway throughout the campus," the hospital said.
The emergency department, operating rooms and patient rooms remain in service as of Tuesday afternoon, the hospital said. But the storm is expected to disrupt some outpatient services.
"We continue to assess structural damage," the hospital said. "We thank the emergency responders from throughout the community who were on campus immediately to provide assistance."
