Doylestown Parking Fines, Meter Fees To Rise In 2021
Parking fines will increase from $10 to $20 and meter fees will rise from $1 to $1.50 per hour in 2021.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Expect to pay more for parking in downtown Doylestown in 2021.
The increase in parking fines and fees next year were enacted as part of the 2021 preliminary budget adopted by Doylestown Borough Council at its Nov. 16. meeting.
The 2021 spending plan increases parking fines from $10 to $20 and parking meter fees from $1 an hour to $1.50 per hour, the first increase in parking costs in over a decade, Borough Manager John Davis said.

It also includes a 1.841 mill property tax hike — an increase of about $55 per year for the average borough homeowner — that will go toward funding several capital projects, including construction of the Broad Street Gateway Park, a new Borough Hall and a new Central Bucks Regional Police headquarters.
Construction on the $11 million project is already underway. The maintenance yard on North Broad Street formerly owned by PennDOT was acquired by the Heritage Conservancy last year to be transformed into a park and new Borough Hall and police complex.

The tax increase offsets a $500,000 budget deficit brought on by impacts on tax revenue due to the coronavirus pandemic, Davis said.
The council is expected to vote on a final budget at its Dec. 21 meeting.
