Earlier this week, Mayor Noni West issued a proclamation recognizing the importance of Earth Day.

UPDATE: Due to Saturday’s forecast for inclement weather, Doylestown Borough has canceled its Earth Day event for April 26 at Broad Commons Park.
DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH, PA — In advance of Doylestown Borough's second annual Earth Day celebration on Saturday, Mayor Noni West this week issued a proclamation recognizing the importance of the day and encouraging everyone to stop by Broad Commons Park to celebrate the planet.
"This year marks the 55th anniversary of the Earth Day movement. Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson, an ardent conservationist, created Earth Day in the spring of 1970 to force the environment into the national agenda," said Mayor West. "Environmental activism in the 1960s all led Nelson to establish Earth Day."
