Doylestown Pumpkinfest Is This Weekend In The Borough

DOYLESTOWN, PA — The time-honored fall tradition of Pumpkinfest returns to Doylestown this year, but with a much different look.

Every late October since 1992, the festival has been held in the Moravian Pottery & Tile Works courtyard, where giant, glowing pumpkins illuminated the stone archways of the historic building. The event typically draws thousands of people to the courtyard each year, who come to watch professional pumpkin carvers mold giant pumpkins into works of art.

Due to coronavirus-related restrictions, this year's carvers will be scattered along storefronts and sidewalks in Doylestown Borough for all to see as part of a socially-distanced "pumpkin crawl," said Kimberly Cambra, executive director of CB Cares Educational Foundation, the nonprofit organization responsible for running the event.

The carvers and their pumpkins will be available for socially-distanced viewing beginning at 5 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 24 and Sun., Oct. 25.

Walking maps will be provided that pinpoint locations where pumpkins will be on display, and the event will feature live music from Music Under Main Street, a youth band made up of Central Bucks students who have been performing at the festival since they were in seventh grade.

Twelve carvers will have five hours to sculpt as they compete for the coveted Malloy Award, named in honor of former pumpkin carver Kevin Malloy. Ribbons will be awarded Saturday night.
