Doylestown-Themed Playground Rises At Broad Commons Park
The new tot lot featuring a child-sized version of Fonthill Castle is on schedule to open by the end of September.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Youngsters in Doylestown Borough will soon have another place to play in town.
Construction is underway on the borough’s newest play area at the southeast corner of Broad Commons Park at Doyle Street and North Broad across from the Doylestown Borough Hall.
At the heart of the Doylestown-centric playground is a child-size replica of Henry Mercer’s landmark Fonthill Castle decorated with faux Mercer tiles.

The playground will be fully accessible, fenced, and will include a number of sensory-friendly elements.
“I had the opportunity to spend 20 minutes walking around the new playground. Even though it’s not completed, it is quite impressive,” said Council President Jack O’Brien on Monday. “There’s still work to be done but I’m looking forward to the opening. And thank you to those who have donated.”
The installation of the new play area is being done by The Doylestown Borough Public Works Department.
“Our forces are working on completing the lovely playground. We expect to put the rubber surfacing down in the next 30 days. It should be open for joy and fun activity by the end of September,” reported Public Works Director Phil Ehlinger.
To date, the borough has received three legacy grants in support of the playground. They have come from Chris and Whitney Chandor, Matt and Lisa Peruto Broad and Carolyn and Curtis Cowgill.
