East State Street To Close For Repaving In Doylestown Friday

"After several years of borough requests," PennDOT crews will mill the asphalt and repave on East State Street.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — East State Street will be closed Friday for milling and repaving "after several years of borough requests," Doylestown's deputy borough manager announced this week.

Weather permitting, the roadwork on the stretch of East State Street between Oakland and Broad streets will last just one day. Crews plan to mill off 1.5 inches of old road surface and repave that amount with new asphalt, according to borough manager Phil Ehlinger.

He said road work will start at 6 a.m. and last until around 5 p.m.

"Cars parked on this section of East State Street the day of the scheduled milling and paving will need to be moved before 6:00am, and if the owners cannot be found, the cars WILL be towed," Ehlinger wrote.

He said "no parking" signs will be placed along the street this week in warning for Friday's restrictions, and that car access to properties along the paving section will also be restricted Friday.

"Additionally, side streets off E. State (Maple and Church) will be blocked although properties along these side streets should be able to access their properties and driveways," Ehlinger wrote.

He said the borough is only providing traffic control support to repair "this bad section" of State Street.

"State Street is a PennDOT-owned highway and this is entirely a PennDOT project," he wrote, adding, "Your anticipated cooperation and patience while this work is performed is appreciated.
