BUCKS COUNTY, PA — A tornado touched down in Upper Bucks County early Thursday morning, National Weather Service survey teams confirmed. It was one of two that hit southeastern Pennsylvania Wednesday night into Thursday as the remnants of Tropical Storm Fred dissipated.
The tornado started around 12:25 a.m. Thursday about a mile and a half south of Souderton. It traveled nearly 9 miles, ending about 15 minutes later in the Dublin area, the National Weather Service said Friday.
The storm was an EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, bringing winds of more than 100 miles per hour. It ripped numerous trees out of the ground and caused damage to the roofs of several homes and businesses.

The two tornadoes are just the latest extreme weather events in the region over the past few months. An EF-3 tornado hit lower Bucks County on July 29, causing severe damage in Bensalem and Trevose.
