Felony Charges For Man Who Tried To Cash Check At Chalfont Bank

On Thursday, Central Bucks Regional Police officers responded to Univest Bank in Chalfont for a report of a bad check.

CHALFONT, PA — A man faces several felony charges after he tried to cash a check at a Chalfont bank that belonged to another account holder, Central Bucks Regional Police said.

Harvey Zimmerman, 60, faces felony charges of forgery, identity theft and receiving stolen property.

Around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, police responded to Univest Bank in Chalfont for a report of a bad check. They arrived to find Zimmerman at the bank counter attempting to cash a check belonging to another account holder, police said.

The teller became suspicious when Zimmerman couldn't answer basic questions regarding the account and didn't match the picture they had on file, authorities said.

Zimmerman was arrested and found to have multiple forms of false identification and credit cards in his possession, according to police, who learned that Zimmerman multiple warrants from other local police departments.

He was arraigned on the charges before Judge Regina Armitage, who set bail at $225,000. Zimmerman was then taken to Bucks County Prison after being unable to post bail, according to court documents.

A hearing in the case is scheduled for June 15.
