Firearms Arrest, Assaults Reported: Doylestown Township Crime Report

Police also investigated the fraudulent purchase of a vehicle and arrested a 45-year-old woman on suspicion of DUI.

DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Police handled 813 calls for service during December. There
were 54 traffic accidents investigated. Police also issued 34 traffic citations, 132 traffic warnings, and one non-traffic citation. Here are some of the more serious incidents reported:

Assault

  • On Dec. 13, officers responded to Delaware Valley University where an assault had occurred in a residential hall. A 23-year-old male student was charged, and an arrest warrant was issued.
  • On Dec. 19, officers responded to Neshaminy Manor Nursing Home to investigate an assault between two employees.
  • On Dec. 28, officers investigated an assault between two employees at the Pine Run community.

Auto Theft

  • On Dec. 11, detectives began a complex investigation stemming from the use of a fictitious identity and forged bank loan documents to purchase a vehicle from a local car dealership.

Criminal Mischief

  • On Dec. 2, a resident on Southwoods Lane reported their outdoor Christmas lights were cut and their mailbox was hit by a car.
  • On Dec. 12, officers took a report of several windowpanes that were broken on a shed in the rear of a business on S. Easton Road.

  • On Dec. 11, officers took a report of a neighbor dispute and asked that they stop communicating with each other.

Driving Under the Influence

  • On Dec. 4, a 45-year-old woman was arrested for DUI following a traffic stop for speeding on Route 202 Parkway.

Fraud

  • There were nine reported frauds that occurred in December. Police continue to urge the community to be suspicious of any person, any link on an email, and any request for funds or identifying information. A legitimate business or government agency will not ask for payment via bitcoin or gift cards.

Harassment

  • On Dec. 4, officers investigated harassment by a known person. The resident wished police to instruct the suspect to cease communication.

Liquor Laws

  • On Dec. 31, officers responded to a residence on S. Shady Retreat Road to investigate a report of a large group of disorderly people. Numerous juveniles were contacted and later released to their parents.

Public Drunkenness

  • On Dec. 14, officers responded to a residence on Birdsong Way where a highly intoxicated 24-year-old man had caused alarm when he went to a wrong address. He was cited and taken to the hospital.

Theft

  • On Dec. 12, a resident from Providence Avenue reported a theft of a package that was delivered.
  • On Dec. 16, officers investigated theft, misuse of funds at Grundy Hall by a committee member and resident. The investigation was resolved when the funds were returned and the victim declined prosecution.

Weapons Offenses

  • On Dec. 15, officers responded to Route 202 Parkway between Lower State Road and Bristol Road for a vehicle accident. The operator, a 23-year-old man, was arrested for DUI, carrying a firearm without a license, and related offenses.
