Flooding, Storm Damage Close Roads Across Doylestown Area: List

Doylestown Township police urged residents Thursday not to drive around road barricades or through water on a roadway.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — At least a dozen roads in Doylestown Township were still closed Thursday morning due to flooding, downed trees and wires, abandoned vehicles, and other storm damage, according to police.

The Doylestown Township Police Department released a list of closed roads, urging residents not to drive around road barricades or through water on a roadway, as the “pavement may have been washed away.”

The following roads were closed as of 7 a.m. Thursday, according to Doylestown Township police:

  • Ferry Road — between Hagan Court and Layla Lane — Pavement missing/washed out
  • Pebble Hill Road — between Edison-Furlong Road and Sugar Bottom Road — bridge pavement buckling, unsafe
  • Edison-Furlong Road — between Turkey Lane and Saddle Drive — downed wires and trees
  • Swamp Road (Route 313) — between Spring Valley Road and Robin Road — downed wires
  • Rogers Road — between Valley Drive — downed wires and trees
  • Upper State Road — between Leapson Lane and Alsmhouse Road — flooding/abandoned vehicles
  • Almshouse Road — between Nicklaus Drive and Palmer Drive — flooding/abandoned vehicles
  • Almshouse Road — between Militia Hill Road and Deerfield Lane — abandoned vehicles
  • Almshouse Road — between Quail Road and Lower State Road — flooding
  • Pine Run Road — at Chapman Road — flooding/abandoned vehicles
  • Edison Road and Quarry Road — between Easton Road and Turk Road — flooding
  • Turk Road — at Quarry Road — flooding

The National Weather Service estimated that the remnants of Ida brought up to 8 inches of rainfall to Upper Bucks County, causing severe flooding and road closures, and prompting schools to cancel classes. The storm also brought numerous reports of tornadoes touching down in southeastern Pennsylvania.

The Central Bucks School District closed all of its facilities Thursday, with storm damage throughout the area making it in unsafe for buses and parents to transport students. Central Bucks schools will also be closed Friday, though that closure was previously scheduled.
