Folk Musicians To Perform Outdoor Concert At New Hope Church

Concert to feature the songs of Leonard Cohen, Graham Nash, Harry Belafonte, and Bruce Springsteen.

NEW HOPE, PA — The folk group, David Brahinsky and Friends, will perform the music of Leonard Cohen, Graham Nash, Harry Belafonte, and Bruce Springsteen during an outdoor concert at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 10 Chapel Road, New Hope, on Saturday, October 7 beginning at 3 p.m.

Brahinsky is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist who has been playing music from the folk
tradition, from child ballads to Bob Dylan for more than 30 years. One of the founders of the Roosevelt Arts Project, he has been the lead singer for The Roosevelt String Band for the last 25 years.

He plays in solo concerts throughout New Jersey, New York, and Vermont, but more often with
a talented set of folk musicians and vocalists, "David Brahinsky and Friends."

When he is not singing, David teaches comparative religion and philosophy at the Bucks County Community College. He holds a doctoral degree from Binghamton University (1976) and has been teaching a variety of courses in philosophy and world religions since 1969. He is currently a professor at the Bucks County Community College in Newtown.

The vision of the program is to create space where music can create a community, which is open to all regardless of income.

“New Hope is a community known for the arts and in a small way, we hope to build community through the arts,” says the Reverend Michael Ruk, priest of St. Philip's Church.

The concert is open to the public with a free will donation at the door for the musicians and the outreach of St. Philip's Church. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be indoors.
