Fraudulent Activity, DUI Arrest Lead Plumstead Twp. Crime Report

In other reports, police investigated the theft of an HVAC part from a business and a retail theft at the Giant store at Cross Keys Place.

PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Plumstead Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between March 31 and April 6:

March 31

  • At 1:36 p.m., a resident reported an incident of fraud to police. The resident discovered unauthorized accounts opened in their name while checking their credit score. The officer provided the complainant with an Identity Theft packet and advised them to contact the office if they notice any further fraudulent activity.

  • At 2:03 p.m., a resident reported an incident of fraud to police. The resident told police that an unknown person opened two accounts and a debit card using their personal information. The officer provided the resident with a Victim's Rights packet and an Identity Theft packet.
  • At 7:13 p.m., officers patrolling North Easton Road observed a vehicle swerving on the roadway. After conducting a traffic stop, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol and noticed slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. The driver was unsuccessful in performing a field sobriety test. The 38-year-old man from Philadelphia was arrested for Driving Under the Influence. Charges are pending blood alcohol results.

April 5

  • At 10:38 a.m., officers received a report of a stolen HVAC part from a business renovation site. The business told police that the part went missing over the last week. Officers observed tire tracks in the gravel and severed lines. The case remains under investigation.
  • At 12:08 p.m., officers received a report from a business owner who discovered two fraudulent purchases totaling more than $5,000 at a Lowe's in Richlandtown. The officer contacted the fraud department at Lowe's and is currently reviewing surveillance footage. The case is under investigation.

April 6

  • At 2:08 p.m., officers responded to a theft report at the Cross Keys Place Giant store. The complainant reported that an unknown man entered the store, grabbed items, and left without paying. Officers reviewed camera footage and identified the suspect. Non-traffic citations were filed.
