Are you looking to refresh your skill set and start a career? Bucks County Community College is offering free* career training for Bucks’ residents. Whether you want to gain new skills to work in an administrative position or want training for a job in advanced manufacturing, Bucks has the opportunity for you.
Buck’s Advanced Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship Programs continually boast a 90% job placement rate with salaries ranging from $16-20/hr. Manufacturing provides a great opportunity to afford the lifestyle you want. Impactful work in a variety of settings, with good wages and benefits, training in Metalwork or electrical/mechanical maintenance and repair -Industrial Maintenance- is a great way to kickstart a career.

If you are interested in gaining skills in Microsoft Office software or QuickBooks, Bucks’ also has what you need. The Microsoft Office Technology & Customer Service Specialist Training (MOTCSS) provides instruction in office technology including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Bucks also offers a Bookkeeping with QuickBooks Certification training which introduces students to the principles of financial accounting with a focus on bookkeeping and accounting procedures. Participants will learn comprehensive tools for fast and easy financial management to help businesses achieve better results. Both courses match students with a career coach that offers resume, interviewing and job search assistance along with employability skills trainings.

*Residents who meet eligibility requirements are able to attend the trainings for free. Bucks maintains strong partnerships with the County, the Commonwealth, and the PA CareerLink in Bucks County to fund eligible participants in these exciting careers. The Metalwork Pre-Apprenticeship FREE 12-week Training Program includes theory as well as hands-on skills training, and introduces participants to the fundamental concepts and skills required to be a machinist in the field of advanced manufacturing. Classes are Monday – Thursday, 8:30am – 3:00pm and some Fridays. The next cohort starts July 26. Interested applicants should attend a virtual information session on June 17 or June 24 at 1:00pm.
The Microsoft Office Technology & Customer Service Specialist FREE 8-week online training program provides you with the skills necessary to work effectively in any business environment with the perfect combination of technical and essential soft skills. Participants have the opportunity to sit for the MOS exams in Word and Excel. Classes are Monday – Friday, 8:30am-1:30pm. The next cohort begins August 2. Information sessions will be held on July 8 and July 13 at 1:00pm.
The Industrial Maintenance Pre-Apprenticeship FREE 12-week Training Program introduces participants to the fundamental concepts and hands-on skills required by electro-mechanical technicians in manufacturing and a variety of settings. Electro-mechanical technicians combine knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits along with mechanical technology. Classes are Monday – Thursday, 8:30am – 3:00pm and some Fridays. The next Industrial Maintenance cohort starts August 30. Interested applicants should attend an online information session on July 22 or July 29 at 1:00pm.
The Bookkeeping with Quickbooks Certification FREE 7-week training introduces the principles of financial accounting with a focus on bookkeeping and accounting procedures. Students will learn comprehensive tools for fast and easy financial management. Students will have the opportunity to sit for QuickBooks Pro certification. The skills learned in this course can translate into many career paths including financial analyst, accountant, and financial supervisor. The next cohort starts September 7. Interested applicants should attend an information session on August 3, 10 or 17 at 1:00pm.
