Hanukkah Celebration To Feature Human Menorah In Doylestown
The free event will feature singing, donuts, treat bags, crafts, hot cocoa, and a human menorah.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Bucks County residents are invited to participate in a community Hanukkah celebration on Dec. 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. at State and Hamilton Streets in Doylestown.
Sponsored by Temple Judea of Bucks County, Kehilat HaNahar, the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, and Bucks County Kehillah, the free event will feature singing, donuts, treat bags, crafts, hot cocoa, and a human menorah.
Hanukkah - the Jewish 'Festival of Lights' - celebrates the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and commemorates a miracle where a single day's worth of oil miraculously burned for eight days after the Maccabean Revolt against Syrian-Greek rule.

The eight-day festival involves lighting a special candelabrum (menorah), eating fried foods like latkes (potato pancakes) and sufganiyot (jelly donuts) to honor the oil, and giving gelt (money/chocolate coins).
