DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH, PA — After holding two hugely successful outdoor live concerts at Broad Commons Park in May, Doylestown Borough and Stage United will do it again in September.

Doylestown Borough in July approved a new agreement with Stage United and local concert promoter Joe Montone to bring two more live concerts to Broad Commons Park this fall.

Under the agreement, Montone and Stage United will again develop a lineup of two exciting concerts on September 4 and 25 and will manage all aspects of the productions, including lighting, staging, sound, marketing, setup, and take down.

The two concerts in May were popular events, drawing hundreds to Broad Commons.

According to Caitlin Hernandez, the borough's Director of Parks and Recreation, the concerts “will mirror what we did in May. We’re following the same footprint, using Broad Commons Park and Doyle Street.”

The first concert on September 2 will lead into one of the biggest weekends of the year in Doylestown Borough - the two-day Doylestown Arts Festival and the Bucks County Classic professional bicycle race.

“We’re also book-ending the June, July and August concerts in our neighboring municipalities so we have no overlaps,” she said.

The major difference between the May and September series, said Hernandez, involves fundraising. To pay for the events, they will need to raise $20,000.

To achieve that goal, Hernandez said they will offer two presenting sponsorship opportunities for each concert at $5,000 each. In addition, they will be charging the food trucks and beer vendors 10 percent of their sales.

The borough, in partnership with Montone, presented two hugely successful concerts in May, drawing large crowds and featuring Bucks County Sheriff's Deputy Dave Woodard and his band, Mo Lowda & The Humble, Jarod Clemons & The Late Nights and Newtown-based Fallon's Religion.

Montone, who organizes the nearby Abington Art Series, launched Stage United last year to create a more sustainable live music scene in his hometown of Doylestown by booking dynamic, diverse bills at new and exciting venues around town that bring the artists closer to the people.

Montone is also the idea man behind "Picnics On Pine," a summer series of outdoor concerts in Doylestown Borough, and earlier this year, "A Night of Song," a three-concert series held inside the Big Room at the Tile Works.

Through Stage United, Montone is seeking to elevate the local music scene by providing greater access to live music in Doylestown and beyond.

According to the agreement, the goal of the new concert events "is to activate Broad Commons Park as a unique gathering place while showcasing local food, artists, and vendors. Performing artists would all be located within the tri-state area, emphasizing Bucks County and Philadelphia."
