Local Police Plan Increased Staffing Due To Regional Protests

Police in Buckingham are closely monitoring all federal, state, and local intelligence for any information that could impact the community.

BUCKINGHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — With civil unrest taking place nationally this weekend and protests planned in Philadelphia and other suburban communities, the Buckingham Township Police Department announced on Friday that it will be increasing staffing as events unfold.

In an "important message to the community" issued on Friday, Chief David J. Scirrotto said the unrest and protests "are on many of our minds. The Board of Supervisors, as well as business owners and residents, have reached out to me with questions and concerns.

"I would like to assure you that the Buckingham Township Police will have increased staffing in place as these events unfold and have coordinated with our regional and county law enforcement partners on various response options and protocols," said the chief.

"We have also coordinated with Emergency Management and are prepared to receive and/or provide
assistance based upon long-standing mutual aid response plans," the chief continued. "We are
closely monitoring all federal, state, and local intelligence for any information that could impact our community.

"During this uncertain time, our officers will continue to immediately respond to all emergency
calls and take action without delay when required," the chief added. "The Buckingham Township Police will do everything within its capabilities to provide for the safety and security of its citizens."
