Man Charged With Attempted Murder Of Wife In Doylestown Twp.

The man shot a gun at his wife early Thursday morning, prompting police to issue a shelter-in-place order, according to court documents.

DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — A Doylestown Township man is facing a slew of criminal charges, including attempted murder, after police alleged he assaulted his wife and shot at her last week outside their home.

David McCausland, 49, was charged Thursday with attempted first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault and five misdemeanors, according to Bucks County court records.

McCausland is accused of shooting a gun at his wife early Thursday morning, which led police to issue a shelter-in-place order for residents in the area.

Doylestown Township police said McCausland shot at his wife after she went outside following an argument in their house around 2:50 a.m. Thursday, according to charging documents. She then ran to the home of a neighbor, who called police.

Police urged residents to avoid the area around 5 a.m. that morning and issued the shelter-in-place order about an hour later, the Bucks County Courier Times reports.

McCausland eventually surrendered to police after the Central Bucks Special Response Team was called to the home in the 100 block of Bishops Gate Lane, charging documents state.

McCausland is being held at the Bucks County jail in lieu of $5 million bail, according to court records. He must post 10 percent, or $500,000, to be released. He is due to appear in court Monday for a preliminary hearing.
