New Details Emerge On Police-Involved Shooting In Buckingham
Investigators said an armed man shouting politically and religiously charged statements aggressively pursued neighbors with a weapon.
BUCKINGHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — A confrontation between an armed man and a Buckingham Township police officer on Saturday resulted in an officer-involved shooting, according to new information released by the Bucks County District Attorney's office on Sunday evening.
The incident began when the man was driving recklessly in the 4800 block of Redfield Road around 4 p.m. Saturday and crashed his van into a parked vehicle.
When residents came outside, investigators said the man aggressively pursued them with a weapon and chased them inside while shouting politically and religiously charged statements. The residents locked themselves in their home, investigators said.

When a Buckingham Police Officer arrived, the man went after him, investigators said. The officer fired a Taser, but it did not affect the man.
As the man continued to advance, investigators said the officer fired his weapon. The officer then rendered aid.

The man was transported to the hospital, where he remained on Sunday, according to investigators.
Police recovered two weapons from the man.
Charges are expected to be filed upon his release from the hospital, the DA's office said.
