Man Surrenders To Police After Armed Barricade In Doylestown

A shelter-in-place order was issued Sunday afternoon in Doylestown due to the armed barricade near a commercial area, authorities said.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — A man who police say was threatening his family with a gun was taken into custody Sunday afternoon after police negotiated his surrender at a home on Broadale Road in Doylestown Borough.

Around 2:30 p.m., the Central Bucks Regional Police Department issued a shelter-in-place in the area of Old Dublin Pike and North Main Street and instructed those who received it to “lock all doors and move to a central and secure location away from windows.”

Police also called the Central Bucks Special Response Team (SRT) and negotiators to the scene.

Police confirmed in an email blast around 4:45 p.m. that a person had been taken into custody and there was no threat to the public.

"The SRT team was called in to assist and the situation is under control," Central Bucks Regional police said in its message.

Police told area news outlets that the situation was brought to a successful conclusion through negotiations and there were no injuries.

Borough officials reported the unfolding situation in a post on Facebook shortly before 4 p.m.

"Police are dealing with an armed barricaded subject," the post said. "If you live in the immediate area, please shelter in place. Swat Team and negotiators are en route to assist. We will repost when
the situation has been resolved."
