Medication Take Back Drive Nets More Than 10K Pounds In Bucks
Since 2010, 241,272.87 pounds of medications have been collected and incinerated, according to the Bucks County Drug and Alcohol Commission.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Bucks County residents over the weekend dropped off 10,303.37 pounds of unused, expired medications, vaping products along with 1,005.75 pounds of sharps at 48 collection sites around the county, including police stations, businesses, libraries, fire departments, hospitals, and municipal buildings.
The figures were released by the Bucks County Drug and Alcohol Commission, which organizes the Bucks County Medication Take Back and Disposal Program with the support of the Bucks County Commissioners, the Bucks County Area Agency on Aging, the Bucks County District Attorney's Office and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency.
Since 2010, 241,272.87 pounds of medications have been collected and incinerated, according to the commission. NARCAN (Naloxone HCl) Nasal Spray, a nasal form of naloxone for the emergency treatment of a known or suspected opioid overdose, was also available for local pick up at seven of the collection sites.

Accoding to the Bucks County Drug and Alcohol Commission, it is important to follow safe practices with all medications. This includes storing medications properly, taking medications only as prescribed, not sharing with others, and safely disposing of both prescribed and over-the-counter medications in a local medication drop box or at a Take Back collection event.

For those who missed the collection event on Saturday, free and anonymous medication disposal is available year-round via any of the 45 permanent drop boxes located at police stations and hospitals throughout Bucks County.
