New Britain Township Writer Is 2020 Bucks Co. Poet Laureate

DOYLESTOWN, PA — An author from New Britain Township was recognized by the Bucks County Commissioners last week as the 2020 Bucks County Poet Laureate.

Jane Edna Mohler, a writer, school counselor and teacher, is the 44th recipient of the honor. She was chosen in November out of 75 participants in an annual competition sponsored by the county commissioners and administered by Bucks County Community College., the county announced in a news release Sunday.

The commissioners presented Mohler with a congratulatory proclamation during their Dec. 16 meeting.

“I was born just a few blocks over from here, so this is pretty exciting,” Mohler said at the meeting. “I’m a little bit speechless.”

A native of Central Bucks County, Mohler works as a school counselor through the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. In 2016, she was named the winner of the Main Street Voices poetry competition in Bucks County.
