Nockamixon Pool Closes For Summer Due To Lifeguard Shortage
The Nockamixon State Park pool will be closed for the season due to a lack of staffing, park officials said.
NOCKAMIXON, PA — Due to a lack of staffing, the Nockamixon State Park Pool will be closed for the season, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced Wednesday.
The upper Bucks County park is not alone in facing staffing issues. State parks are facing a shortage of lifeguards this summer, forcing some parks to reduce pool hours or close altogether.
Officials attribute the dearth of lifeguards to the COVID-19 pandemic, when in-person training for certifications was halted. Certifications are issued by the American Red Cross, the YMCA, the U.S. Lifesaving Association and other authorities recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
