Pine Street Legal, LLC Helps Clients Fight For Consumer Rights

Bucks County-based Pine Street Legal, LLC specializes in consumer protection law. The firm’s solo practitioner, Attorney Nancy Kanter, offers her clients one-on-one help and experience in fighting for their legal rights as consumers when errors on their credit report cause them to be turned down for a mortgage, denied insurance coverage, denied credit or forced to pay high interest rates on a loan.

The firm also provides mortgage foreclosure defense, credit card collection defense and representation for victims of debt collection abuse and identity theft. Patch caught up with Attorney Kanter to learn more about her experience in practicing consumer protection law:

Patch: How long have you been doing business in town?

Kanter: Pine Street Legal, LLC, has been located in Doylestown Borough since 2008.

Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?

Kanter: After many years of representing abused and neglected children in the Philadelphia child welfare system, I became interested in consumer protection law in 2007 when the country went into economic recession and credit reporting issues, foreclosure, identity theft, loan fraud and credit card related issues came to the forefront of so many people’s lives. I initially learned about the law in those areas by attending seminars, studying the laws that applied to those issues and by joining a national organization of consumer advocates that provides legal resources for attorneys practicing in this area of the law.

Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?

Kanter: Getting justice for every client.

Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?

Kanter: The biggest challenge is fighting for a client’s rights when going up against big organizations
and institutions that, just by their size and multilayers of people, tend to overpower and frustrate individuals in society.

Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?

Kanter: The most satisfying part of my job is applying the law to prevail on behalf of my clients.

Patch: How would you say your business distinguishes itself from the others?

Kanter: Pine Street Legal, LLC is a consumer protection law firm and that is an area of the law that is
not commonly practiced as a specialty.
