Plumstead Police Cancel Community Day Over Weather Concerns

The event had been scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6 at the township's Hanusey Park.

PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — Plumstead Community Day, which was scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6 at Hanusey Park has been cancelled over weather concerns.

The police department posted the announcement Friday afternoon.

"The Plumstead Township Police Department regrets to announce that our Community Day event, scheduled for tomorrow, has been cancelled due to the high prediction of thunderstorms during the majority of the event time.

"The safety of everyone involved and those planning to attend is our top priority, and we felt that cancelling the event was the best decision to ensure everyone's well-being. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding in this matter," police said.

The event - a joint effort between the police and the township's parks and recreation department - would have included a Touch A Truck event, the landing of Temple MedFlight, K9 demonstrations, hands-on activities, local law enforcement, and capped off with a movie in the evening.

The police department did not say whether the event would be rescheduled.
