Regency Woods Incident: Man Charged With Aggravated Assault
Donald E. Highland II was taken into custody after causing serious injury to his roommate, police said.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — A Doylestown man was charged with aggravated assault after he attacked his roommate at their apartment on Tuesday morning, Central Bucks Regional Police said.
Donald E. Highland II, 58, was charged with felony aggravated assault in the incident that occurred at around 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Regency Woods Apartments.

Authorities said that while there was no argument prior to the attack, Highland told police he was upset with earlier comments his roommate had made. The victim was taken to Abington Hospital for trauma treatment and surgery after suffering lacerations to his head, neck, throat and arms, police said.
Bucks County detectives remained at the crime through Tuesday night to assist in the investigation and process the crime scene.

Highland was arraigned before Judge Regina Armitage on Tuesday afternoon, who set bail at $75,000. He was unable to post bail and taken to the Bucks County Correctional Facility, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 22.
