"This friendly competition between our local first responders not only showcased their dedication to saving lives in their daily work, but also their willingness to go above and beyond for the community they serve," said event organizers. "The donations will help the American Red Cross continue its vital mission to provide lifesaving blood to those in need."
According to the American Red Cross, the impact of the challenge did not go unnoticed.
"In fact, the American Red Cross was so impressed with the turnout and energy of the event that
they’ve invited us to host the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive again next year," said the organizers. "We can’t thank the public enough for showing up, rolling up your sleeves, and making a difference. Your participation helps ensure that hospitals have the blood supplies they need and that lives can be saved in times of emergency."
The Battle of the Badges was organized by Joseph Aita and Sgt. Hawthorn, who played a key role in making the drive a success.
"We’d also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Panera Bread for generously donating a delicious breakfast spread for our donors to enjoy as they recovered," organizers said.
