POINT PLEASANT, PA — Fans of the Amsterdam Coffee Bar in Buckingham now have another place to enjoy its one-of-a-kind luxury coffees.
The popular coffee bar, located across from the Buckingham Friends School, recently expanded to include a second location inside Kolbe's Antiques & Art on the Delaware in Point Pleasant.
Nestled inside a restored 1700s hotel at River and Byram roads, Kolbe's is home to more than 50 vendors offering a unique blend of fine art and antiques in a space where "history meets creativity."

Amsterdam is the newest addition to the Point Pleasant experience, offering customers a place to kick-back and relax with its specialty coffees and lattes, baked goods, organic breakfast sandwiches, and Liege waffles.
"The space itself is beautiful," said Amsterdam Coffee owner Dale Ruschmeyer. "I completely overhauled the little cafe that was in there. I did all the woodworking myself. It's really just a beautiful space."
Shoppers who visit the unique Bucks County shopping location and stop in at the 20-seat cafe will find the same quality products offered at Amsterdam's Buckingham location and in a space surrounded by the shop's signature bonsai plants.
"We're delighted to be part of Kolbe's," said Ruschmeyer. "It's two floors of vendors in this massive old building. It's a pretty cool space just to check out and walk through. I would encourage people to stop by the cafe, grab a cup of coffee and take a walk through what essentially is a mercantile market. The canal trail is right there. You can walk from the coffee shop right over to the towpath and walk along the river. It's just so beautiful."
Ruschmeyer, who spent a quarter of a century working for Stephen Starr in Philadelphia as a craft bartender, said at Amsterdam he takes much the same approach to coffee-making as he did as a craft bartender.
He makes all of his own syrups, including Amsterdam's own in-house chocolate, which uses ground cocoa from Guyana and a little bit of cane sugar. "We keep everything simple and focused on quality and let the ingredients speak for themselves."

"I've tried to create a place that I would like to go to myself," said Ruschmeyer. "I haven't really found any place out there that is similar."
Also setting the shops apart are its unique bonsai gallery settings.
"We have live plants everywhere," said Ruschmeyer, who worked briefly at a bonsai nursery during COVID. "I've integrated that experience into the coffee shops to combine the luxury coffee experience with a bonsai gallery. We have little trees everywhere in the coffee shops"
The plants are for sale, ranging from $100 up to $10,000, said Ruschmeyer. "We have a couple of trees that are over 100 years old," he said.
Amsterdam Coffee features different specialty drinks such as the Golden Latte, Kyoto Cold Brew, and Nordic Blueberry Matcha. The café also serves a limited food menu, including breakfast items like egg sandwiches, gluten-free egg bites, and a variety of Liège waffles — Belgian pearl sugar waffles made in-house with brioche dough cooked on heavy cast iron.
Amsterdam Coffee is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at both locations.
