State Street Players is Now County Seat Players—Honoring 45 Years

After 45 years of bringing stories to life on stage, we’re proud to share some exciting news: State Street Players is now County Seat Players. This new name reflects not only our roots in Doylestown but also the connections we’ve built with neighbors, friends, and audiences across Bucks County.

A Name That Celebrates Our Community

For decades, we’ve been inspired by the people and places around us. From the familiar faces in our audiences to the local talent that lights up our stage, everything we do is about creating a space where stories bring us closer together. Our new name, County Seat Players, celebrates our role as a cultural cornerstone in Doylestown, the county seat of Bucks County.

“We chose this name because it’s not just about where we perform—it’s about the people who make our theater special,” says Eric Nitschke, 2025 Show Director, and Head of Marketing and Publicity for County Seat Players. “We’ve been honored to be part of this community for 45 years, and this new name reflects that connection.”

The Same Heart, A Fresh Chapter

While our name has changed, our commitment to bringing joy, inspiration, and connection through live theater hasn’t. Over the years, we’ve staged unforgettable performances, nurtured local talent, and shared countless moments of laughter, reflection, and applause with you. As County Seat Players, we’re ready to keep that tradition alive while looking ahead to an exciting future.

Celebrating With an Unforgettable 2025 Event

To mark this new chapter, we’re putting together an amazing 2025 installation in our Annual Assault Upon the Performing Arts. This Reboot’s Made for Laughin’ is packed with skits, songs, and selections that showcase the creativity and heart of our community. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or someone seeing a show for the first time, we can’t wait to welcome you to our performances.

The show, to be performed at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 84 E Oakland Ave, Doylestown, will run Feb. 28 - Mar. 1, Mar. 7 - 8 & Mar. 14 - 15, 2025.
