Tornadoes Confirmed In Doylestown, Upper Makefield Township
Heavy rain, high winds and several tornadoes swept through Bucks County on Wednesday, uprooting and snapping trees throughout the night.
BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Several tornadoes touched down Wednesday in Bucks County, bringing winds of up to 100 miles per hour, the National Weather Service has confirmed.
An EF-1 tornado formed just before 6 p.m. Wednesday near Neshaminy Creek in Doylestown and produced a “consistent path of damage” as it traveled 4.4 miles before ending in Buckingham Township, the National Weather Service said Friday. The damage was “mainly confined to trees,” with many snapped and uprooted along the tornado’s path.

The heaviest damage was reported along a stretch of Edison-Furlong Road, where several utility poles were also snapped. That tornado was part of a storm cell that produced another strong tornado in Montgomery County about 20 minutes prior to touching down in Doylestown, the NWS said.

No injuries were reported from that tornado.

Another EF-1 tornado touched down at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Upper Makefield Township, with winds reportedly reaching up to 90 miles per hour. The tornado was first spotted near Jericho Creek and moved northeast for about 1.7 miles, the National Weather Service said.

The tornado snapped numerous trees along its path and flipped several soccer goals at Brownsburg Park before lifting just before it reached the Delaware River, the NWS said.
A third EF-1 tornado was also confirmed in Bristol as the remnants of Ida hit the region Wednesday. The storm started in Edgewater Park, New Jersey, before making its way to Bristol, according to the National Weather Service.
The twisters in Bucks County came less than two weeks after the area was hit by a tornado that formed in the remnants of Tropical Storm Fred. That tornado touched down around 12:25 a.m. Aug. 19 near Souderton and traveled nearly 9 miles before lifting in the Dublin area.

The storm was also an EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, bringing winds of more than 100 miles per hour. It ripped numerous trees out of the ground and caused damage to the roofs of several homes and businesses in its path.
Bucks County was also in the path of an EF-3 tornado July 29 that caused severe damage in Bensalem and Trevose.
