2 Killed, 4 Injured In Interstate 78 Crash
PA State Police are investigating the crash that happened early Monday morning in Upper Saucon Township.
LEHIGH VALLEY, PA —Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a crash that killed two people early Monday morning on eastbound Interstate 78.
The crash was reported just before 5 a.m. Monday on eastbound Interstate 78, at mile marker 61.6 in Upper Saucon Township.
Police determined the crash involved a Volvo tractor-trailer, Freightliner tractor-trailer and a 2003 Toyota Sienna. Police said the crash resulted in two fatalities, and four people were injured.

Three people were taken to Saint Luke’s Hospital Fountain Hill and one person was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest for injuries.
An initial investigation found that three people were attempting to push the Toyota Sienna in the right lane of travel. One person who was pushing the van was killed and the operator of the Volvo Tractor Trailer was also killed.

All traffic was closed eastbound and detoured onto State Route 309 during the investigation. The roadway reopened to traffic at 11 a.m.
The crash investigation is ongoing.
