Dead Dog Found In PA Woman's Freezer; Animal Cruelty Charges Filed

Pennsylvania State Police charged a 62-year-old woman with animal cruelty after a dead dog and a distressed horse were found at her home.

UPPER MOUNT BETHEL TOWNSHIP, PA —A woman faces animal cruelty charges after Pennsylvania State Police found a distressed horse, a dead dog in a freezer, and 26 other animals on her property.

Pennsylvania State Police Troop M – Belfast Station has charged Donna Giello-Turner, 62, with two animal cruelty felonies and four misdemeanor charges after investigating a report of a distressed horse. Bail was set at $25,000.

State Troopers responded Saturday to East Shore Drive, Upper Mount Bethel Township, Northampton County for the report of a distressed horse in a field near the road.

Police contacted the homeowner to have the horse provided care, but returned to the home on Monday with the horse continuing to suffer without any care being provided.

A search warrant found a deceased dog in a freezer.

State Police also seized 22 dogs, a horse, two birds, and a cat from the property.

After consulting with a veterinarian, a decision was made to euthanize the horse, Pennsylvania State Police said.
