Easton Aquatic Club Diving into Community Service
Team's 3rd Annual Food Drive Reaches New Highs
EASTON, PA- This past Tuesday summer swim team, Easton Aquatic Club (EAC), delivered around 300 pounds of food to ProJeCt of Easton’s food pantry.
The food was collected at the team’s July 4th practice, donated by swim team families and community members. This was the 3rd year EAC has run the activity in what has become their “Annual EAC AmeriCAN Food Drive.
Val Piacentini, Project of Easton Food Pantry Case Manager was there to help the swimmers unload the rice, cereal and canned goods, “This group of young people from the Easton Aquatic Club showed up at our ProJeCt of Easton food pantry with 300 pounds of food! Our pantry serves over 500 families per month, along with the homeless community in Easton. We are so grateful that this organization took the time and understands the importance of showing the youth in our community that they can have an impact on families in need.”

The club’s initiative highlights how sports can play a pivotal role in fostering community engagement.
EAC team member Galvarino Pinto, 13, of Easton, shared his thoughts, “They need help from people who can give back so maybe they can help other people and it’s a whole chain of helping people that brings good to the community.”

ProJeCt’s Food Pantry has been a community cornerstone for more than 30 years. The goal of the pantry is to reduce food insecurity and increase food knowledge by providing high quality, nutrient dense food to low-income, at-risk adults, children, and seniors.

EAC, a nonprofit organization, exists to provide swimmers in the Easton area an opportunity to have fun and enhance their swimming ability through application of the latest techniques while promoting core values of education, character, leadership and competition. They compete locally in the Penn Jersey Summer League.
